What is the WWIT?
The Writers Workshop Innovation Team (WWIT) program supports consultants in developing and trying out a specific project that benefits the WW and/or our writers. Consultants are invited to propose projects, whether big or small!
Current & past WWIT projects:
- Contributing to the Writers Workshop Staff Handbook on matters of policy and supporting writers with disabilities
- Facilitating undergraduate writing groups
- Designing and presenting staff meetings on topics including: supporting graduate writers with disabilities, motivational interviewing techniques
- Creating templates for UIUC instructors to include Writers Workshop services in their course pages and designing trainings for instructors on providing feedback and grading writing mechanics and techniques
- Spotlighting Writers Workshops consultants and providing writing advice on WW social media pages
- Designing a survey to match graduate students into self-run writing productivity groups
- Analyzing patterns in satellite location attendance and Written Feedback Appointment use
- Coordinating presentations with RSOs and other campus units
For consultants with WWIT-y ideas:
- You must be a current consultant in the Workshop to apply.
- Apply by completing the form linked in our weekly staff email.
- WWIT hours are blocked out from your current schedule (depends on project needs; typically 8-12 hours per project).
